What to expect at our events

The Tribes of the Blue Rose may perform one or all of the following; non-scripted military combat, living history area and a group participation activity called the ‘Deer Dance’. We have 8 -12 fighters and an additional 10 support members. We can provide several tents 10x15 and a display booth also about 10 x 15.

Our Combat shows are never the same twice. We have a combat system which allows us to fight one on one, group melee and ‘last man standing’ with out repeating the fight sequences. We currently use blunted metal swords, non-thrown spears and axes. We have pictures of our new weapons on our web site. We like to have an hour per fight block to great the crowd, perform, meet the crowd afterwards and busk.

Our living history area, staffed by our members in garb, is a place where patrons can look at and touch some artifacts from our own collections and items we have reproduced. They can also ask questions and see some demonstrations.

Our group participation activity is not done in armor and would not be done in conjunction with a fight block. We have created a celebration of a successful hunt. The activity encourages patrons to participate especially children from age 5 and up. One tribe member is the Hunter; the other members are bears, wolves and deer. One member is the ‘Great Stag’ and carries a large set of antlers. Patrons are all deer. We dance in a large circle and the Hunter with an imaginary bow shoots the predators first and then the other bucks with exception of one little boy. The boy, who we have pre-selected from the crowd will take the antlers from the great stage after he is shoot and finish the dance with the does.
